I didn't expect to have horses at this time in my life. Chinook chose me when she was 8 months old. I was won over by her intelligence, personality, beauty - Morgan traits. I re-discovered my love of caring for horses. At LaBelle, we focus on good health & instilling confidence in every horse, including our boarders.
We lost a beloved family member in 2023. Zach was an integral part of our lives and the lives of our horses. Zach enjoyed foaling and weaning seasons. With him in mind, we will resume our breeding program this spring.
We pulled this boy out of a kill pen in August. It was 3 days before we knew he would make it. Once he began to recover we saw a sparkle to him. The DNA test came back from AMHA with surprising results. Gio is Hidden Y's Fame, with an impressive list of registered foals.
Initially, we listed Giovanni for sale. But we have become his "people". Admittedly, he has grown on us as well. The mares even seem pleased to have a stallion on site. We are considering a late spring breed to Chinook and Noelle.
Photo - Giovanni loves the back scratch.
Fall brought us Giovanni. He was worth the work to restore his health and is thriving in his 4-acre pasture. Winter has been mild, until January, but that's a story for later. Horses are enjoying the extended grazing season. This is the last photo of Tirzah and me. She moved to Kansas with her new person in October.
Spring brought too much rain too quickly. June sunshine brought overwhelming heat multiplying the flies, which tormented the horses. They lived in the barn for much of the time. In fact, all we had to do was open the barn door and pasture gates and the horses trotted themselves into the barn and the open stalls.
This photo is outdated but we keep it up because smiling animals make us smile.
Tirzah is an amazing filly. 'Me First' is her attitude. Me First to meet and greet; Me First to halter and Me First to work. Tirzah has a beautiful gait and will be for sale to a home interested in furthering her training.
Link, 2022 gelding, is happy hanging out with people. And we are exceedingly pleased with his in-hand and groundwork. As of Spring 2024, Link has been saddled without effort. These Morgans are made for riders.
Tirzah & Chinook say Hello for the first time. This photo was selected for TMH's 2023 Calendar photo collage.
Chinook has the regal bearing of a Morgan queen. Gaited and fast, she is the most sure-footed horse I have ever known. Calm and intelligent, Chinook is a horse(wo)man's delight.
Noelle has a sweet, sweet disposition and great athleticism, as captured in this photo. Also sure-footed, Noelle is calm and beautiful. She is the mare who loves to be brushed by the children who visit our ranch.
